The Minnesota Moose (1994-1996) were an ice hockey team in the International Hockey League (IHL) and the first pro hockey franchise in the state since the North Stars of the NHL moved to Dallas in 1993. The team was named the "Moose"after the St. Paul Pioneer Press conducted a "name-the-team" contest.The Minnesota Moose was an ice hockey team in the International Hockey League from 1994-1996. The Minnesota Moose have been an American professional ice hockey workforce primarily based out of Saint Paul, Minnesota that performed in the International Hockey League from 1994 to 1996.
History
Following the departure of the National Hockey League's Minnesota North Stars in 1993, the state of Minnesota used to be left and not using a skilled hockey group. To fill that void, the Minnesota Moose had been based the following 12 months. The staff began play in the IHL for the 1994-1995 season, the usage of the Saint Paul Civic Center at its house arena.
After two years within the Twin Cities, the workforce was sold to a group of Canadian businessmen including Mark Chipman, who relocated the staff to Winnipeg, Manitoba and renamed them the Manitoba Moose. The franchise has played within the American Hockey League since the demise of the IHL in 2001.[1] The state of Minnesota welcomed a brand new NHL team, the Minnesota Wild, in 2000. The Wild play at the Xcel Energy Center, situated on the website online of the outdated Civic Center in St. Paul.
